Warehouse & Deliveries |
Holt Jackson recognises the importance that libraries place on speed of supply and has recently invested heavily in new technology to support new systems and processes. By minimising book handling and stock movement, we have created a streamlined order fulfilment operation.
| |
The main changes have been in the Goods Received and Order Picking Departments, both key processes in the supply chain.
| |
Regular book handling process :
Incoming goods are scanned into the building and immediately allocated to awaiting customer orders.
| |
Using state of the art wireless wrist terminals, our order-pickers select consignments into Health & Safety regulation packing sizes. We use colour coded despatch labels to enable quick and easy identification of priority orders should customers want to unpack these items more urgently on receipt.
| |
The consignments are then ready to be serviced and jacketed if required, before being packed ready for despatch on our own fleet of vehicles.
| |
Fast Track service :
These items (advance orders, requests) are processed as above, but after they are receipted onto our system they are given priority through our picking, invoicing and book handling processes. They are delivered free on our weekly van delivery service.
| |
ExpressChoice service :
After agreeing terminology and contact methods with each library, these items are telephoned direct to our suppliers and chased daily by our Customer Service Team. On receipt they are given priority through our warehousing and book processing departments and delivered either by the regular van service or by courier, depending on the delivery cycle.
| |
We measure our progress using key performance indicators which play an important role to ensure we remain continually focused on our aims of providing a quality service, which meets and where possible exceeds customer expectations.
