The ELiMS Remote Return Kiosk can be located anywhere, inside the building, in a public transport terminal or even on the roadside for maximum convenience.
Serving almost the same function as ELiMS Book Drop, in other words, freeing librarians from labour-intensive loan cancellation activity and operating 24hrs, 7 days per week, ELiMS Remote Return Kiosk is the answer in providing value-added service to busy library customers.
Ergonomically designed for independent operation, ELiMS Remote Return Kiosk is able to monitor each item dropped and will lock the chute flap when the book bin is full. This will prevent customers from further dropping in books and jamming up the bin. At the same, it will also alert the despatch company to empty the bin. The flap will lock if it does not sense the library's RFID Tag. This prevents unauthorised objects from being deposited into the Remote Return Kiosk.
Information, like the borrower's name, book title and due date will be automatically captured via the RFID Tag with every book dropped. This information, stored in a database, will then be able to be retrieved for verification.
